High-Quality Dentistry with High-Tech Instruments

Dr. Russo and our staff are committed to making every patient’s appointment comfortable, fast, and thorough. Whether you’re visiting us for a dental checkup or a complex dental implant tooth replacement procedure, we use the latest technology in the dental field to deliver exceptional and long-lasting results and diagnoses. To learn more about some of the instruments you can see around our dental office, read below.

Dentist examining the patient using Intraoral Camera

Intraoral Camera

Our intraoral camera is a handheld device that allows us to gain a clearer, magnified picture of any areas of concern in your mouth. The camera is connected to a large, chairside monitor that allows us to display the footage we’re viewing and capture detailed images. This help serves as a great resource so we can better explain the issue you face and how our recommended treatment will help address it.

Digital X-Rays

In the past, film X-rays were commonly used to view the structures below your gumline. Today, we use digital X-ray imaging that’s considered to be safer, faster, and more comfortable. Not only does digital imaging reduce radiation exposure by up to 90 percent, but it also allows us to capture clearer images that lead to more accurate diagnoses. It also means that you won’t need to wear a cumbersome and heavy lead apron at each of your semi-annual checkups!

Patient's teeth scanning with cone beam 3D

Cone Beam 3D / CT Scanner

Our Carestream 8100 3D cone beam scanner allows us to capture a detailed blueprint of your entire facial structure, including your upper and lower jawbones, nerves, dentition, and even your sinuses. Within several seconds, the scanner will circle around your head, capturing a 3D outline of the structure and allowing us to precisely plan complex treatments and oral surgeries, like dental implant placement. Not only does this lead to lasting and more successful results, but it’s a completely comfortable and fast process.

iTero Digital Impression System

Have you ever had to get an uncomfortable putty impression to get a mouthguard, crown, or another restoration? When you visit Dr. Russo and our team of experts, you won’t have to worry about undergoing this gag-inducing process, because we use advanced digital imaging technology instead. Not only does this capture a more accurate impression of your tooth or mouth, but it’s also more comfortable and faster, making the process easier than ever.

Soft tissue laser dentistry

Soft Tissue Laser Dentistry

Our Picasso soft tissue laser emits a concentrated, small beam of light that allows us to gently and painlessly remove damaged or overgrown oral tissues and reshape the gumline. It doesn’t require the use of a scalpel or sutures, and best of all, the laser cauterizes the area on contact, minimizing the risk of infection, drastically reducing your healing time, and preventing bleeding. Used in treatments like gum recontouring and crown lengthening, this soft tissue laser makes these procedures more precise.

The Wand

If you require anesthesia injections for a procedure to make sure the process is comfortable, The Wand allows us to administer them without using a syringe. This device carefully guides dental professionals to administer completely painless injections that greatly reduce any anxiety for nervous patients who have never undergone an oral procedure before. An additional benefit is that with this advanced device, you won’t experience collateral numbness that can affect your entire face.

VELscope®

VELscope® is a diagnostic tool used by dentists for early oral cancer detection and assessment. Using fluorescent light technology, it illuminates oral tissues, revealing abnormalities that might be missed by conventional exams. VELscope® aids in identifying potentially malignant lesions at their initial stages, enabling timely intervention and improved patient outcomes. This non-invasive device enhances dentists’ ability to provide comprehensive oral health care and enhance patient well-being.
