| Injectables 1) Epinephrine 1:1000 - use 0.3ml per dose every 3 minutes as needed for acute allergic reactions. An epi-pen or epi-pen jr can also be used. 2) Histamine blocker - Benadryl 50mg/ml ampule (not preloaded) for less severe allergic reaction or following epinephrine administration. Non-injectables 3) Vasodialator for Angina Pectoris - Nitrotabs (Nitrostat) 0.4mg or spray given every 3 minutes until relieved 4) Bronchodialator for Asthma attack - Use Albuterol (Ventolin) inhaler. recommend that asthmatic patients bring their own inhaler to all appts. 5) Antihypoglycemic - Orange juice, soda, or cake icing. (Label can in refrigerator for emergency use only.) 6) Thrombolytic - Aspirin - one 325mg tablet if heart attack (M.I.) suspected. 7) Oxygen - always helps! |
